Discoverer — Privacy policy
Updated: 26 October 2026. Publisher and person responsible for processing within the publisher’s services: Konrad Dul. Privacy contact: coder.konrad.dul@gmail.com. This policy is available in Polish and English.
How the app works
Discoverer reveals explored terrain on a map. There is no in-app account or publisher-operated exploration-history server. Your profile name is not your Google account or a public username. The app contains no advertisements or publisher-operated advertising analytics.
Location and discoveries
After you consent and grant Android permission, Discoverer uses approximate or precise location, accuracy, measurement time and available speed. These support filtering inaccurate fixes, displaying your position and storing explored areas, daily statistics and achievements on your device.
Entering Discover starts an entitled session. Once started, location access can continue while the app is minimized or the screen is off. A foreground-service notification indicates the session, subject to Android notification permissions and settings. Returning from Discover to the menu stops it. You can revoke permission in Android settings, which prevents further exploration. The app does not request ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION.
Profile and settings
Your name, a copy of your chosen picture, language, refresh interval and radius are stored on your device. The app’s own code does not upload your profile or history to a publisher server. A system picker selects the image, which is resized and saved as a new image.
Maps and external connections
Map tiles are requested over HTTPS from tile.openstreetmap.org. Its operator receives your IP address, an app-identifying header and tile requests that reveal the map area being viewed. This may be your current area or one selected manually. We do not send the operator your history file or a raw GPS measurement stream. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Android and your device’s location providers may process data under their own policies. A system document picker may connect to a cloud provider selected by you.
Subscriptions
Google Play handles purchases and billing. The app reads the product, purchase token and status and acknowledges purchases. It stores a local access state and verification times, with a bounded offline access confirmation of up to 24 hours. Google Play Billing does not provide the app with your card number or Google account email. Tokens are used to communicate with Google Play, not a publisher server. See Google’s privacy policy. Manage cancellation through Google Play; uninstalling does not cancel a subscription.
Diagnostics and exports
Location diagnostics are automatically stored in a private app directory. They include coordinates, times, accuracy, filter decisions, permission and provider states. Export adds the device model, Android/app version, time zone and exploration settings. The journal rotates at approximately 1 MiB for the current file with up to two previous files. It is not automatically sent to the publisher.
Discovery and log exports happen only at your request to a document you choose. Files contain sensitive location data and are not encrypted by Discoverer. The backup checksum detects corruption, but does not provide confidentiality. A cloud provider or person you choose to share a file with receives its contents. Avoid public sharing if you do not wish to reveal your movements.
Retention and deletion
History, statistics, profile and settings stay on the device until replaced, app data is cleared or the app is uninstalled. Import keeps one local undo copy, replaced by the next import. Logs rotate according to the size limit. Delete exported files separately. Android automatic app backup and app-data transfer are disabled. Google billing records have independent retention periods.
To remove all local data, use Android Settings → Apps → Discoverer → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall. This is irreversible without your own backup. The publisher cannot remotely delete your local history. Emails and voluntarily submitted logs are handled in the support mailbox to resolve your request; you may request deletion, subject to legal retention requirements or the defence of claims.
Security and your rights
Android app isolation protects local data; map connections use HTTPS. This does not encrypt exported files or guarantee protection on a compromised or unlocked device. We do not sell location data.
Where GDPR applies to processing by the publisher, purposes include providing functions at your request, your consent to the described location use, and legitimate interests in support and security. You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability, withdraw consent or object as provided by law. You may complain to the Polish supervisory authority UODO or your competent authority. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. We do not hold a copy of local history unless you send one to us.
External operators, including Google and OSMF, may process data in other countries under their policies. Contact: coder.konrad.dul@gmail.com. Updates will carry a new date; material changes to the purpose of location use require updated in-app information.
